Grooming is stupid. People trying random non-fact based stuff to make a fish look better. All you need is good genetics, water quality and diet for the best results. Less stress will bring out the best in a fish. Can’t fix poor genetics which a lot of hybrid fish have. Keep trying to polish turds..

You literally just described part of grooming. Besides I meant grooming on like the mirror part of it and similar things like that.

I don't can you clue me in?
It's doing whatever possible to bring out the best in your fish. It involves food, water, and specific things like using a mirror and other fish like blood parrots to bring out the aggression and Nuchal Hump of the fish but for some reason people only use mirrors and dither fish for hybrids, so I wanted to know if it was a good idea to do that for natural fish.

Holding up a mirror is just antagonizing the fish to get an aggressive response from it. Why stress them out this way?
It makes the fish feel dominant, that makes its Nuchal Hump grow and it also causes no harm to the fish and other fish so that's why people usually use mirrors. I'm not too into really large Nuchal Humps but I still appreciate when a Cichlid has one.
