i noticed the arowana's fins beginning to look a little tattered about a week ago and they have gotten a little worse since. I am thinking it is fin rot.

to add insult to injury now my fire eel in the same tank has what looks like a raw spot on his lower back and i don't really have any idea what this is.

i plan on putting them both in a hospital tank tomorrow and medicate with maracyn.

any ideas or helpful suggestions?

Okay, this should be easy to heal.
add 1 small spoon of salt per 10 gallons and buy Melafix, add them every day and do 50% water changes till fish's get better, stop giving salt and melafix when fin rot heals but still do 50% water changer every day for couple of days.

well i have already started treating with maracyn so should i finish up that treatment then switch to melafix or do you think just the maracyn would be fine

Clean water and aquarium salt is likely all you need. Recommended dosage for salt is one tablespoon per 5 gallons of water. Do enough water changes to keep your nitrates under 10 ppm. Make sure you add more salt for the water taht is being changed
