Hi!

About two weeks ago a friend of mine said that his fish was getting bullied pretty bad and asked if I could take him because he wouldn't last much longer. My tank wasn't set up/cycled so I added some of my friends gravel to mine and also used some bacteria supplement. The pH is stable around 7, GH is 200ppm, KH is 80ppm, and temp is around 75.

I introduced him to the tank on April 3rd. Since moving in, he has glass surfed up and down a lot. He was also hiding a lot and sitting near/on the sand. He has been hanging out at all different levels of the tank too (near the surface, in the middle, and at the bottom). A few days ago I noticed that his anus seemed to protrude and that he was getting some redness near his back fin. Lastly, I saw what looked like him flashing in the sand. I contacted my local fish store and he said it was probably from the stress of being bullied and then moving a new tank. He also said that the flashing was just him burrowing. So I ignored it and then I noticed something new today. It seems like he's losing his color and turning white near his gills. He is still glass surfing and "burrowing." The burrowing has definitely become more frequent though. Now I'm getting worried and I think he may have gill/body flukes.

While appearing to be extremely stressed, his appetite is still humongous. He'll only eat flakes though. If I feed him pellets, freeze dried brine shrimps, or freeze dried blood worms, he'll chew on it and spit it out a second later.

I would just really like advice if I'm overreacting since I haven't had fish in a few years. Anything will help! Thank you!

P.S. I couldn't figure out how to upload a video so I did a time lapse of him burrowing.

I’d add increase the amount of water changes. Add some bacteria in a bottle. Wait it out and try feeding the flake for now. Would even try a flake medicate with metronidazole. Dim lights and reduce stress.
