Newly bought koi, housed in a pond with other kinds of fish, it's about 1foot. Most likely it was bit by my aro.

I have taken it out of the pond and salted the 50G tank with about 12 tablespoon full of rock salt. That was a week ago, don't see the scales healing up.

How long until these scales heal up? What else should I be doing?

kois are cold Water fish when u put them in warm water they dont do good....... my freind lost like 20 koi out of his outdoor pond cuz the water was up around 70s for a few days he has had them for like 6 years but the heat just wiped them out cuz they where to hot for to long.......

Koi usually don't die at temp in a 70s. I have a 10,000 gallon koi pond and they live through the summer when the outside temp is in the 90-100 range.

Thank you! Am so tiiiiiired trying to justify keeping kois in my neck of the woods...Kois are bred and kept in thriving conditions in the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia, these are all tropical countries. The thing is the climate in these countries are virtually the same 24/7/365, the fish I'm sure adapt well to the consistent climate.

hey
i also faced the same problem with my kois and 7 flowerhorns.
during feeding the fh have a pecking order which the kois dont respect
and they get bitten by the fh. some times i had noticed skin tear in my leather back koi also. but i have not done anything and now they have healed after a long time.
they get bitten now and then and it is going on.
if u like your koi to be beautiful dont put predatary fish.
this may happen in case of female kois which are battered by males during sexual play also.
some times the kois rub on hard surfaces and get scratched.
usuaally dont put koi in glass tanks as they produce lots of wastes which should be recycled properly
sorry about the finrot i dont have any experience in this regard:confused:

i live in india, there is no problem with high temp.
it is very good in the sense that the koi are very active and consume more food. during rainy season and cloudy days they r lethargic and slow moving and are off food for nearly a week.
i have never a lost a koi in my one year experience to temp problems or diseases. they are very hardy and adaptable fishes.
