Hello! I hope it's okay for me to post here, even though I have a post that contains the same question in another area. That one has lots of other questions in it too though.
Post I'm referring to: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?563775-75g-Stocking-Suggestions

I thought posting this here would get more responses, and I definitely want to get as much info as I possibly can.

So, what is the size difference between the two?

I've read that Senegals get to 20", while the Delhezi gets to 14", on SeriouslyFish.
Other spots I've seen say that Delhezi gets to 17", and have been told that senegals do not usually reach that size and generally get to 12".

I'd also be interested to know of some smaller sized bichirs, if there are any.

Thank you.

CB Senegals today usually stay under the 10" mark, but wild senegals with the right care can get about 10"-12". However in Lake Turkana thats where the 20" senegals come from. As far as delhezi I'd say CB would get about 10"-12" and WC would be 10"-14" give or take a few inches on any of these numbers. If you are looking for smaller bichirs your best bet would be upper jaws almost anything would be in between 10"-14" at their max except for teugelsi (24"+) weeksii (20"+) and the ornates (20"+). Other than those almost everything is in the 10"-14" range other than those three and the 2 that are under that are the senegals (8" give or take) and mokelembembe (8"-10") mokes usually don't get past the 10" mark and if they do they take a long time to get there. From what i've heard mokes grow the slowest, but the 1 moke I had grew about 2" in 4 months then the growth rate slowed extremely.

Have been seeing this CB and WC around here, what exactly do they stand for? I imagine WC is wild caught? CB..captive bred? I just want to make sure I have those right! :)
It certainly would make sense if those are the right terms, can't say I'd thought of that before as being a factor in their eventual sizes.
Delhezi & senegal are upper jaws, right? Am glad to hear they don't get quite as big (usually?) as I've read. Could either of those go into a standard 75g?

Thank you for answering my questions & giving me the additional information of the bigger guys! That should come in handy in the future one day when I can get into larger tanks.

+1, if you want to get another thatll fit in the 75 for life Mokelembembe is another option. Much pricier and WC though, not sure if any farms breed Mokes

This is something I'm wondering, especially with the other thread I have linked to, is if I could/should do multiple bichirs.
I am very content with just one though (for now anyways..) and I think I prefer the look of delhezi over mokelembembe (how on earth is that pronounced?) but I could have been looking at the wrong pictures.

Along with that ones pronunciation..how do you say bichir? Just something I've been wondering. I keep having to call it flatface to my fiance since that's what he called them when I first showed him.

Thank you again, ya'll are so very helpful!

Ive always heard it pronounced bi-sheer i could be wrong though. Moke-aylay-mm-bembay is the best way i can break down pronunciation for that. More then one bichir is good actually, they like to be in groups. They "pile" on top of each other. Unless there is a lot of caves, then they will fight over them so id go with rocks, driftwood and plants.

I won't even bother trying to pronounce moke out loud haha! Bi-sheer is how I've been saying bichir though when I can bring myself to say it. I dislike saying things I can't pronounce.

I wasn't sure if they liked groups or not, they look so stinkin' cute piled all together. Thank you so much for clearing that up!
I'm not the best aquascaper so hopefully I can do it well enough to make them happy. I was really hoping to find a big stump ornament but have not found one that I like yet.

Now I'm worried about them posing a threat to the knife (if I'm able to have it, have not got a response yet for that one), since I do need a hiding spot for it.

Do bichirs like PVC pipes? O.o Maybe I could do a pyramid of sorts..but that still wouldn't allow them to pile on eachother. Hrm.
