South Florida cichlid ID. Xanthic mayan?

I caught this fish in a local canal and was wondering if anyone could help me with an id. Thanks

My friend said he’s caught some like down there like that before. He says they are Faded Mayan x Midevil just as I thought.

Doubtful…where they are found there are a bunch of both species together, never saw mixed pairs…

Well maybe I’m wrong but that is my hypothesis. The pigmentation is very reminiscent of faded amphs especially the ones I’ve seen out of Florida . I wouldn’t imagine you would see any mixed pairs. It sure is an unlikely pairing but surely possible. If it was a common thing too see a Mayan like this (which it’s not) then it would make sense to see mixed pairs of Mayan x Midevil often if that’s what they really are but no it’s gotta be rare.

This one was paired up with a regular Mayan cichlid on a nest. I didn’t keep it.

It’s Against the law to release that fish back into florida water ways. You are required to retain/ dispose of invasives.
