Hello fellow ray keepers.. Im just wondering, is squid a good and stable diet for motoro stingrays? I just switch from marketprawns last week and i just noticed that they do like squids than MP is it good? And what nutrients will my rays will get on squid? I will still feed them MP's now and then but i will try to make squids there staple food.. Thanks!

If the entire squid is cut up and fed it will be better than just feeding one part of the squid. My rays did the best on night crawlers

I think I mix is best. I feed mine a variety of foods consistently. Squid, tilapia, shrimp, tuna, salmon, pellets etc.

I go fishing for squid (calamari) often. I feed the offcuts and some tube to my rays, this is only really as a treat and not a staple part of the diet. They seem to like it and always good to vary your animals diet, but as a staple, probably not great.

thanks bro! actually its calamari that im talking about, my rays are eating for about 2 weeks now, my my 2 female rays seems to like it so i think if i make it their staple food it would be great. though i dont know any benefits or nutrients they will get. they eat more when i feed them squids (calamari) than if i feed them MP

I don't like to feed prawns as it is very high in thiaminase and long term feeding of foods that are high in thiaminase can cause thiaminase poisoning, especially when not feeding other foods that are rich in B1 (the vitamin that thiaminase metabolizes).

Plenty of info on it online. I know a Ray keeper local to me that has has issues with thiaminase poisoning in the past.
