2000hph is the key for your pond, 1000 is the bair minimum, think like it as a huge tank, you want to turn it over atleast twice an hour, bigger ponda like over 5000gallon only need once every two houres, for mine its huge and the bigger the pond the less suport it needs, its like a shrinking raito, your 1/4 size filter is almost perfict, if there is such a thing... but i think your makeing this overly hard..., you only need to go with one type if bio method not all diffent types, like put the intake at the bottom, pipe it through your uv and out into the tank..., wrap the white fine filter floss stuff around your intake pipe(a pvc pipe with a craploas of holes). fill the filter cavity with plastic pot scrubbers, place a net at the intake slot to catch fish and leaves and you have a basic surface skimmer filter, my intake box will be exacly like this and around the same size too.

bioballs ppl say are the best...but they are $10a gallon for 3/4-1"sized balls

plastic pot scrubbers ppl say are even better bucause they are 10 for $1 at doller stores, and it lite and reasy to clean

lavarock has a amazingly huge surfase area and lots of crevises the others dont to culture the bacteria and it $6 a one yard bag... by far the cheapest. but its heavey.
