A blast from the past, one of my favorrite predators from Lake Barumbi mbu.

The white spots are cephalic pits used to detect prey, hidden beneath the substrate, and showp when using a flash

Its amazing how we start with the most colorful and slowly dive into the "unique"

almost looks like it evolved to fill the same niche dimidiochromis Compressiceps.

Many of the Barumbi mbu cichlids (including pindu) are said to trace linneage to Tilapines, like the Saratherodon linnellii above, and
the Stomatepia mariae, Konia eisentraudti, and pindu below,that were together in my lake Barumbi mbu biotope tank in the past
