It gets crazy hot and humid here in Taiwan. Everyone's tanks here are all 30+ degrees at them moment. Even with this heat, a few others, including myself, have bred species such as pulchras, bleheris, aurantis, and gachuas. As Brucki said, it's the difference between summer and winter temps that stimulate snakeheads to produce eggs and spawn. The reason why most fish die with heat, is because of low oxygen levels. The higher the heat, the lower the oxygen levels. Since snakeheads breathe air, you have nothing to worry about. Just make sure they get their winter's rest, otherwise your fish will suffer fatal health problems. All subtropical fish, including chiclids need a winter's rest.
