So I have a male king Kamfa about 10 or so inches and a female super red Texas about 7-8 inches. They keep digging and courting for about two weeks. I took him out of the tank Once before because she hurt his kok pretty bad. He hasn't healed but it's not an open wound anymore.

They made a huge pit in my black sand and guard it until I feed it. The did courtship plenty of times and Her tube is not out and she seems like not interested in him anymore but she digs with him. Hoping her tube comes out soon would love to see the babies.

These are some older pics.
Wish them good luck! Kind of a progress thread I'm making

I am normally not a fan of these man made strains but I have to say I would love to have a couple different types of flowerhorn to put together and just experiment with what each pair would create. its cool. any luck magic between the sheets with these two yet?

Changing 10-15% of the water with cold water???
Are you asking if I change the water the water with cold water? If so no it's room temperature water but at times it is colder water like 72 degrees. I try to change it to colder water in my experience it mimics the rainy season and makes them spawn. I don't do 10-15 percent water changes I do 50 percent water changes a month in my 200 gallon. They're attempting spawning in my community tank so it's difficult to do that. I've had fish spawn but both the male and female are large. She hasn't laid eggs yet but I'm assuming she will soon. All I can tell you is that they're a couple they're constantly around each other.

50% a month? How many water Changes a week?
In the 200 gallon I just do once a month and add water as I lose it. Thats it. My 200 has a very good filtration system I run two extremely large sponge filters a 40 gallon sump with bio balls, filter floss. sponges and I also grow plants in the sump.

Been doing this for 6 years and always been fine. Adding plants in my sump kept my nitrates down extremely since I have 20-30 fry I kept in the sump until they get sold.

So 100 gallons or so in my water changes once a month. I did go 3 months without a water change ( Out of the country) and it was still good the water parameters.

The key is filtration and your stock. Overstock it and ammonia and nitrates will build up.

I know my water is good because I do check it here and there but my fish spawn all the damn time it gets annoying.

Sounds like a good set up to me. I will have to try this someday. Just got 3 golden monkey and a Super Red Texas. I was wondering how unfertile the SRT's can be? And flowerhorns? Wish me luck!

Unsuccessful she's fertile but the male I don't think was and she ended up killing him. I sold her as well
