Been a while since I got back in the hobby, would like some second opinions on the following fish, vent wise they look all female to me but i've always been a side venter so opinions are appreciated.

Myrnae are pretty easy to tell apart
female

Note the bright area in the mid and anterior of the dorsal, somewhat like your pic 1
Male below

Note no color in the anterior of the males dorsal, and the steepness of the his head profile compared to the female
And at the same age the male is usually almost double the females size

With T seiboldi the females tend to have darker, overall markings and have a distinct dark spot (notch)in the dorsal, but it comes and goes.
With my seiboldi the one in the upper part of the photo was male, lower part female, also note the males bulkier head profile

These gender difference were not apparent (to me) until the male hit about 5-6"

Here is the breeding tube of a similar shaped and evolved cichlid, Chico intermedia

Its large enough to allow eggs to pass.
Males on the other hand only need to pass cellular size sperm cells, and are much narrower.

Been a while since I last bred centrals, Supplier sold it to me as a pair was concerned by the dorsal spot as i've used that as a semi accurate method for sexing aside from side venting, profile wise myrnae 1 looked more male to me vent however looked female. Guess i'll have to order again. 😅

seiboldii was sold as pair but female died enroute will get another replacement though. Guess I just better get 1" inchers next time than supposed pairs. Probably the sucky part when you have to import your fish from abroad.

Also attached is a picture of the "male" seiboldii vent wise i see female but its still in the 3.5-4 range so I guess i'd better wait and see.
