I have 75 gallon tank with five platinum angelfish, seven roseline shark, and one Boshemian Rainbow fish. My wife is planning to put three discus. Can they get along together?

Three discus is not the most recommended number. The problem is once two pairs off, the third one gets constantly harassed. What size of discus are you trying to start? Juveniles should be placed in barebottom tanks for easy maintenance due to their required feeding several times daily. The schedule alone requires plenty of water changes. Start with 4 minimum, not 3.

Your roseline sharks are an issue. They will be unable to tolerate the high end temperature the discus requires so either of the two must go.

Thank you so much for the advice. By the way the current temperature is 82 F, so far my roseline and angelfish are doing very well. Okay, I will get four discus, they are about 4 inches.

4 inch specimens are sub-adults. I'd say they're fine in a planted tank setup if your setup is one. Good luck.:)

Problem is that your angelfish might hurt your discus. Angels get pretty aggressive when discus or other angel is being introduce into the tank. Angelfish, seven roseline shark, and one Boshemian Rainbow are all fast eaters. Discus like to take their time to eat so that could be another issue. You never know if it'll work out but if it does then you got a really good setup. I have discus with angels and was told not too. Then again my new angels are a lot more docile compared to the old group.

It is possible to mix angelfish and discus. You just have to make sure the discus are getting their fair share. I've done this before without issues. The only trouble is the angels are easy to spawn and their attitude takes a new spin to the situation so I'd get a spare tank just in case.

I have a 75 gallon discus tank myself and i have 1 roseline shark that sometimes picks on them when hes hungry but if hes well fed hes fine but with you having 7 that could be a problem when adding the disus. they are docile fish and roselines can be a lil pugnacious. so id proceed with caution if i were you...though if it works it would be am amazing display tank!

Thank you for all your advices. I purchased three discuss from MFK and I still need to purchase another three to make the discus less aggressive to each other. So far my angel fishes and roseline are fine. May be because they are in groups. Eventually, I have to separate them because the roseline is fast eater.

Roselines are in the Barb family. I have 4 5 inch Roselines and would never mix discus with them they might keep your discus hiding when feeding time comes. Mine often go after eachother when i drop food in. But i Have to say they are very docile to my lemon tetras. Ive never tried it but you never know some things work for some people while others fail horribly. if you have a big enough tank but 75 is kind of small for all the fish your talking about

82 is really, really warm for Roseline Sharks (Puntius denisonii). They're coldwater barbs, and their normal temperature range is approx. 65-78 degrees farenheit with a few swings being acceptable. I personally keep them with goldfish, weather loaches, etc. You might want to consider a separate tank for them if you're going to keep the temperature that high on a routine basis.
