what is the min tank size for bala sharks considering they like to be in groups?

This really serves no purpose other than general knowledge and curiosity. Always wanted bala sharks when I got my first tank... until I learned they got to big and needed to be in groups :(

oh yeah, what is the general max size (not record max size but on average) of a bala?

I have wondered this, and after having them I would say at least a 6'x2'x2' but the longer the better, they are really active swimmers.

i agree on tank size, i love bala's i have two, they are not picky eaters, being scavengers, they do like pristine water, and are fast swimmers, hence the room. get 2 or 3 and enjoy

A 6-foot tank would be my preferred minimum for a small group of balas.

babies I would say a 75 gallon. juvies/teens a 150 - 180. adults 200 - and up. they need space, i had 13 juvies/teens and adult. they stayed together but hardly swim my tank was way over stocked that they just stayed in the corner.

yeah i used to keep balas in my 150 and i found that was way to small, and they weren't even adults... too active... one day two jumped shipped after being spooked by somthing and rammed full speed into the glass lost there balance.... i wont keep any again unless i have like a 5 or 6 hundred gallon

55-150
