Okay. What fish can they be in a tank with? The other day I was in the local pet store and they had a tank with a peacock bass, oscar, blood parrots, catfish, and a junkload of other cichlids.

So I was wondering what fish could go with Blood Parrots. Because I think the peacock bass and large oscar confused me a bit. Wouldn't they be too aggressive for the blood parrot?

If you don't like the fish then you don't have to reply.

Blood parrots are GREAT Community fish! They are so cute and gentle... but if other fishes try to pick on them, sometimes they will even stand up for themselves.

 That just about sums up my experience with them.

My 4" BP is the only fish in the tank who stands up to my 12" jardini, even though the jar doesn't give him any trouble. I quite often see him chasing the jar away from his corner.

Please note that they're only community fish (see above) in the monster sense. If you put a BP in a community planted tank with some tetras, it will eat them for sure.

I would think the oscar would give them trouble though. I remember when I had my oscars, nothing else could go in that tank without being eaten. Haha. I guess if you introduce them into the tank at the same time and at a young age they would get along?

almost any south or central american cichlid of similar size and similar disposition would be fine, as well as larger tetras or danios or barbs. I've kept blood parrots for a long time with severums, barbs, knives, pikes, green terror, jack dempsey, plecos, polypterus, etc etc.

BP's are funny, extremely personable fish, with enough attitude that if they could back it up, they would be very aggressive, but since they have those goofy mouths, they really don't have any means to fight with any other fish, and just seem silly.
