Hello all! It would appear my 2nd smallest teugelsi bichir has been nipped quite visciously by one of my other bichirs last night and I was wonder if this damage is going to be permanent or of it will heal up good with care, I have a larger teugelsi that got his pectorals removed when he was young and small, they never regrew and I would hate to have the other all suffer the same fate. Any advice helps! Thank you!20230712_153356.jpg

Depends if it’s the fin or a good chunk of meat (which it seems like) the fin will regrow if it was only that but If a good amount of flesh comes out with it then it might not
With care it may or not heal it depends on the bichers genes

If it's just a (albeit bad) nip I'm sure it'll grow back. Just looks like some flesh was stripped. As long as the bone is still there, it'll regrow. I've had acaras nearly get bitten in half, only to heal (for the most part) on their own. Same fish a few months apart. I'm sure something like a bichir can do better in a shorter amount of time.

Might want to get some antifungals on the wound though.
