I've housed a lot of sa/ca cichlids over the years but a few months ago I got my first "Texas" cichlid, it was about an inch when I got it so I just assumed it was a proper Texas.

Now that it's grown some I'm questioning whether it's a true Texas(cyano) or a carpintis or a cross.

Given the wealth of knowledge on here I'm hoping you guys can help me out with an answer as to what I have?

Also how do you sex these/ any idea what sex I have here?KIMG0108.JPG KIMG0087.JPG KIMG0108.JPG KIMG0087.JPG KIMG0060.JPG KIMG0111.JPG KIMG0108.JPG KIMG0087.JPG KIMG0060.JPG KIMG0111.JPG KIMG0089.JPG

I agree it looks more toward carpintus, and it is a female.
Here is a female H carpintus "Chairel".

Many are being tagged with the location (Lagoon, city near the lagoon, etc) as there are slight outward difference in populations, e.g. Laguna Escondido, Rio Hondo, ,Vontehillo) to help prove (suggest) provenance, because there are so many mutts/hybrids these days.
