The BASHA KILL, NY

Just wanted to share a couple pics from an early morn trip today to the Basha kill, up here in NY. It's a seven mile long body of water which is mostly water hyacinth and deep water channels, as you'll see in the first three pics. Secon two are of a 3.7 Lb grass pickeral, the third is of a 4.3 lb Bowfin. hope ya all enjoy. Sorry the detail isn't better of the Bow, my buddy isn't too good with a cam.

These pics are beautiful Ken.... what a gorgeous peaceful place..don't you just love it up here {upstate ny}theres just so many beautiful spots like this that make life just a bit better.... love all the wild hyacinth growing,amagine them all in bloom.. grrrt fish too...looks like you had a fantastic day....
 
for sure, nothing like upstate, and yeah had a great day, the pickeral is mine too but after the lame bowfin pic, made him hold the pickeral for me to shoot

Those are great pics and fish to deeper inland is what I call box turtle country . In NY they call that water hyacinth but its not I used to think it was when I lived in Long Island .
You only have real water hyacinth in hot states . The countryside there is great do you find any turtles near the shore?

all over the place, saw a couple massive snapping turtles today, with shells probably 20" across+/- ofcourse
