Hey I have a cool idea. I know I dont know **** about all the settings these cameras have and what to do with them to make better shots. SO Im gonna have a lot of reading and messing around to do before I figure it out.

Maybe someone could explain what all the different settings on a cam actually do and how you should go about finding the right settings.

the main ones to look up are ISO, aperture, shutterspeed, and white balance. the different type of shooting modes in your camera just basically sets these up for you automatically. the shooting mode denoted by a letter like M, P, A, or S gives you more flexibility since you can change some or all the settings manually depending on which mode you're on.

I recently bought a canon SD 800 IS that has an 'aquarium mode"

it takes really nice shots:

for a compact digital, it was pricey though. but definately worth it.
