recently i had a major breakdown in my main 250g display tank where one of the heaters melted completely. this was during a water change after i had unplugged it. luckily i caught it so as of now, no casualties have been recorded.

this leads me to ask my fellow fish keepers what brands of heaters or setups they use

i currently run two hygger 1000w heaters and in truth was irresponsible. i know that many people run eheim and inkbirds but i would like to know what others people use

I run a 500W titanium thru an older model blue planet controller on my 560gal. 7yrs going strong.
Eheim 300w glass, no controller on my 112gal. 12yrs going strong.
Hygger 300w w hygger controller in my 125gal. 8yrs going strong.

titanium>glass no? do you run doubles like my tank or just one in the 560g + controller

The titanium is full metal, no controller, just on or off, run through the controller. I have a double for it, but tbh, have run it single for over 3 yrs now. The second set up is my back up.
Tank is in my basement so the contestant temp is around 68° & I run the tank at 75°F. I have a routine to check the controller in the cabinet every day at least once.
