Trimaculatus Cichlid

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Plans for a solo wet pet? Thats what my current plans for mine are. But there is a part of me that wants to try mine in a community tank with other large non-cichlids to see if its as much a jerk as they are reported to be...

Have you picked a vendor you are interested in buying one from? What plans did you have if you were to get one?

I'm still debating whether to get one- Do some research. I have gotta mix reviews on there behavior and aggression but Would like to house one juvenile trimac with other juvenile cichlids. Start them from 125gallon eventually moving them to 350gallon 8ft long . As for vendor not sure yet

Mine is solo in a 75 but I have other amphilophus I could mix it with but dont even want to attempt it because the trimac has always been a lone fish. Im not sure how it would act. I was fortunate to get mine from a private seller getting out of the hobby so good price and a really nice fish.

Heres my little guy about 8” or so

Well done my friend ?.. Any more pics? i was told in a much bigger tank you could keep trimac with amphilophus species or parachromis species (not dovii). How is his behavior/temperament like?

Mine is going through a bit of a spook phase right now. It doesn’t like movement in the shadows of the garage. I have to turn the lights on for it to see me or else it will sometimes dart for cover and hurt itself. This is part of my idea to put it into my 300 where it would see regular foot traffic and a bright environment.

Here is my garage tank racks. The trimac tank is on the top left. He pretty much is at eye level with me.

I agree. Unless you take out all amphilophus species and possibly place them in another tank/tanks for afew days/week. Change the aquascape around... Then add amphilophus and trimac at the same time in 300gallon with no light for a day and monitor the tank. Could work!
