Triportheus angulatus

Picked up one of these guys today, from what I'm told they are very rare to come by. he seems to love swimming in the powerhead of my 120g with my filament barbs. Hes a beautiful specimen around 5". Doubt I will find any others but If I do I will certainly add to this one.

I find a lot of information calling them Chalceus angulatus so I'm going to assume they are somewhat related to the pinktail chalceus.

Anyone else have these guys or have any cool information to share?

Oh and of course pics

Thats pretty sweet, hes a real character. the only issue I have had is I havent seen him feed yet. I tried Cichlid Pellets, Flake, sinking shrimp pellets, small sized NLS. I'm thinking maybe hes still settling in but he dosn't seem to be distressed in any way.

I have a planted 75g with peaceful community fish that I can always move him to if the cichlids harass him, but I'm sure he can handle himself

Hi. New here but not to fish.
Used to have a group of 6, for a couple of years in a planted 75g community. Very assertive but peaceful with others and their kind, including other's fry. Lightning fast and good jumpers, but not too bad. Once they found their groove, they would eat anything but preferred frozen worms, brine, etc. Became among the most avid feeders of all. Mostly on the surface with short incursions to the middle and only rarely lower. I have very rarely seen them, and have been referred to as Giant hatchets and Ecuadorian hatchets. I believe they come from Colombia and Ecuador and there may be more than one spp involved. Sweet fish. Enjoy them. Thanks for posting.
