Here was the tank when it was originally finished in November of 2016.
I moved into a new house in June of that year and after awhile I got to thinking - why the heck don't I have a tank out in the living room, front and center! So, that's what I set on doing. The two major set backs for me are that I live out in the sticks (or corn fields) so physically getting a tank isn't just finding an ad on Craigslist nearby and secondly with the layout of my house the largest tank that could comfortably fit in any one room is a 180 gallon. I snagged two 125 gallons as they were going for the 'right price'.
Anyways, I wanted something in my living room and as a center piece to the house so to speak. I have a matching wood canopy that's not on the tank, gives it a more polished/finished look. But beyond that, here she is now.
A close up of the fish...
And a short video shot with my phone...
Another major reason for the change is that Tropheus do better against lighter color substrate and backgrounds. The sand in the original tank was darker then I had hoped when I bought it. The sand in the new thank is White Play Sand and it really does lighten things up. Rock is Ohko Stone (Dragon Rock) and the background is a Universal Rocks 3D Crevice Background. The slight little pebbles you see on the sand were from the old substrate - netting the fish out caught some of the old substrate.
