True Parrot Courtship

Need some opinions, ive noticed the past few days, two of my parrots flare up, tail slap and lip lock a lot. I'm not sure if there just fighting or if this might be a pair forming. There only 2.5-3 inches would they really be pairing off that fast?

They are way too small to pair up....probably just establishing dominance.

I have to agree with peathenster...I've got 2 at about 3" and one slightly larger and they just started displaying the same behavior you are describing. Def too young to be forming a pair but old enough to want some privacy lol

are those guys from rapps btw?? they look identical to mine

These guys normally take 18 to 24 months to become sexually mature. They have to be quite a bit larger too, well past 8".

Mine started this behavior around 3" and it only got worse. I ended up just keeping one and sending the rest to a new home. They don't seem to enjoy conspecifics once they reach a certain size.

I hope you have a big tank. My fish grew from 1" to 10" in under a year and he's showing no signs of stopping. He's gotten big, aggressive, and territorial.

God I want one of these. Have for awhile but I don't want to pay for a fish to be shipped and none of my LFS's carry them.

Currently in a 75 gallon with an EBJD, waiting until the summer to get a 180 to keep them in. I can't get the tank in the house with snow on the ground. Yes there all from rapps. I've only noticed this behavior with these two and another one. The other three are extremely calm and laid back. Maybe I'll divided the group. I didn't think they were pairing up already I figured it was way to young but wanted to be sure. Thanks

Look at my location lol. By the time she got here she would be an ice cube. Plus I'm going on vacation soon so don't want to have a fish shipped and not be here for the arrival.
