Never noticed this before, is it a problem?

My new reimanni snake neck turtle just pooped out what looked like a few almost whole meal worms. It may be that it was just their shells, but still, they still looked like meal worms mixed in with fecal matter.

They looked uneaten enough to fool the fish in the tank, some of whom ate them. Heh. Yuck.

Anyway, is this unusual? Could I be overfeeding the turtle and sort of forcing food through him too fast?

Quite new to herps.

Thanks!

Could overfeeding and he's unable to digest them entirely. Or it could be like humans and corn lol

I'm sort of leaning towards the latter. That being said, I'm kind of amazed how much food the little guy can pack down, especially compared to fish I'm used to raising.

He actually used his back legs to like, pull one out of his anus which was gross but made me chuckle. He was surprisingly adept.

But I figure if he was too overfed, he'd be more likely to vomit than spontaneously defecate.

You know, for a site that avoids cuss words, I've crafted some really disgusting imagery here. Just looking for advice, though! haha.

The turtle could also be too cold for healthy digestion. Have you checked your water and basking temps since the weather has gotten a little cooler?

Haha sorry cant help about your turtle, but I can provide some laughter for your descriptions lol...thanks for giving me and image of a turtle pulling a worm out of his bottom. :)

It's probably just the exoskeletons and it's completely normal.

Thanks, it did look like that. They were husk-like.

Pretty sure he's fine. There isn't a heat lamp in and there hasn't been one for a couple of weeks because he just hasn't basked at all.

Temp is 82 though which is perfectly in healthy range for his species. Atmospheric temp is the same.

I'll keep an eye on it though.
