underside of the stingray

hey guys,

i have a ray that is identified as a leoxhenlei and the underside of it started to have some black spots. what does this mean? does it have to do with genetics? and also, what is that big black spot in the middle? some kind of birth mark? haha thanks a lot!

The only rays I've seen with the large black spot in the middle are motoros as well. I'd say your hybrid has some motoro in it.

hmm what about the smaller specks of black patches?

oh, just went to see the underside of my pure motoro but there isnt a black mark! haha

My 2 Motoros have a black birthmark sort of thing. Seems to be normal. Also from what I've read the Leo's can develop patterns on their underside as they begin to mature.

Here is the underside of my leoXleo/hen.Has the "birth mark" and some spots..........

The belly of my leo has that black spot. I have seen many rays with it. Not just motoros.
