Using an Intex pool for larger fish

I’ve owned a few average size tanks ranging from 10 - 50 gallons composed of various schooling fish and a couple bristle nosed plecos. While they are fun to take care of, I have a plan, stupid or not, to take a large step up. All males, myself included, have the inherent urge to rule a conquer as our forefathers did. Unfortunately, there is not much conquering or ruling to be done in the suburbs of midwestern America, and hence I must settle for large fish. I plan to convert a 1700 gallon Intex pool into a pond, and assumed the wise gurus and philosophers within these forums might aid me in my quest. I’ve seen many articles concerning chemicals such as algaecide being used on the pool lining, and was wondering whether Intex uses these poisons and how I may dispose of them. (I have an example attached below)

I have used both Index, and Beltway pools for fish, gave them a good rinse, added media from tank filters, then added fish without incident.

The Index 400 gal was used to overwinter Uruguayan cichlids, and water lilies during winter in the basement.

The Bestway nearly 1000 gallons, was used outside in summer.
Once my son went off to college, I put one in his (unused) bedroom for Malagasy cichlids, it just made a snug fit.

As you can seee, they spawned in a corner.
At one point, I had 7 pairs of Heterotilapia multispinissa, spawning in my sons vacant room.
After a couple years outside with the elements, and the moving back and forth inside from winter to summer, UV rays and such.they get brittle, and start to leak.1673609215036.png1673609433853.png

Wow, how did you manage moisture from evaporation?

The deep south
Price is crazy on these now… i paid $88 for. 12’ 1700 intex yrs ago. Ive run the cheaper 10’ bestway brand also around $60. Highly, highly recommend using an additional 45mil EPDM liner over top tho to make them “permanent”. The stock liners are brittle and thin. Ive had catfish arms poke right through the stock liners. Ive ran them for several years trouble free with the 45mil epdm over top.

Don't want to be pessimistic but 2000 gallons is far too small even for a single arapima.
