Vieja breidohri

hey guys i got about a 3" vieja breidohri and was told by the fish store that they got to 8" right now i have him in a 210 gallon with a 5" pair of jewel cichlid a 6" fsg a 5" male firemouth and a pair of convicts about 4 1/2" there are plenty of hiding places. I couldn't find alot of info about them on the web. does anybody own one or have some information? I know some vieja's are extremely brutal. he/she is pretty shy as of now

I'm pretty sure they get bigger than 8" I've never kept one but I've always wanted to.

Males will get bigger than 8" eventually.

I have found them to be one of the least combative Viejas, but if provoked they can hold their own.

The males get larger than females, male above, female below.

Breidhori will breed young at only 3-4"

Mine showed the best color with a diet high in vegetable foods, they especially enjoyed shelled, thawed peas.

Aquamojo has some beautiful giants. Look him up or search "Today in the fishroom."

They are a mexican cichlid from Chiapas. Mine is supposedly from the Angostura Dam.

They are awesome fish and very owner responsive. Their colors get better as they get bigger. Good luck with your breidhori.

A 240 should have plenty of room for the breidhori as long as you don't stuff a bunch of others with it. I have my foursome in a 150 at the moment and they seem to be just fine. Ultimately I think a 180 would be best for them, but haven't come across the funds for that yet.
