Water hyacinth bloomed in my 55 gallon

Pretty cool. When I researched peoples experience with this plant in aquaria I found that they rarely had success.

My water is extremely hard and I have about 8000 lumens in this tank.

Water Hyacinth under the right conditions is king at removing nitrates. Out of all floaters- it is most effective at it.

I'm one of those unsuccessful people growing water hyacinth indoors.
Mine would do well in summer with direct sun in WI, but melt away in winter.
Never enough light, even outdoors when in the shade in Panama, but yes a great plant that sucks nitrate like a Hoover.

My tanks may have all had too much current, but in tubs, or ponds with only slight current they did fine (in direct sun)

The ones I collect from Lake Gatun ultimately failed in my tank under the patio.

Looks good in that first pic.

It completely melted away or just had putter leaves die off?

Water hycaincth constantly sheds old growth. My plants always have new growth or runners

I've thought about trying some in an aquarium. I have it in a garden tub outside where it does good up until winter, then comes back each year.
