I just bought this heater I've never had a heater with a temperature control so I've never knew what my actual water temp was in my tank I've had the good ole Ehiem Heaters

So i have it set at 78 and i did a WC yesterday and the water felt cold "real cold" when i refilled my tank the water was between 80-81 this morning its back to 78.3.

My question is it just me or is 78 pretty cool? should i turn it up to 80? based on my experience i have been keeping my tank between 80-82

Agreed, the warmer the water the better pathogenic bacteria thrive. 78 is a good temp for this species.

So i guess because I've never measured my water temp 78 seems cool to me i think about when i'm outside 78 seems pretty warm i guess air temp is different then water temp when i first got the heater i stuck my finger in the tank and thought this seems good but when sticking my arm in there the water just seems cool.
Thanks

The average water temp of the rivers that festae come from is 77'F (rivers such as the Rio Tumbes, Rio Guayas, and Rio Esmereldas).
The last time I visited Colombia, on that side of the Sierra Nevada mountan range wading in the rivers was quite nipply, and a shrinkage fest.
Compared to the Amazon, the rivers on that side of the Andes are quite short, and their waters come from snow capped peaks in the cloudsIMG_0471.jpeg
