What are these 2 African cichlids that my friends just gave me, he doesn't know neither.

The top one looks like a protomelas similis, a hap. Protomelas sp. are typically more peaceful haps, but have to usual conspecific aggression.
The bottom is a dragon blood peacock, also known as "fire fish", and can go either way temperament wise as they are hybridized & line bred to create the bright red coloration. I had one that was a psycho, he was fine til he hit 6"+, then simply wouldn't play nice not matter what sized tank so I sold him.

Can you tell their sex just by the pictures?

Even without venting I would put money on them both being males.
Protomelas females are silvery grey and black.
Dragon blood females, though they can have nice color, are never as bright and bold as the 1 pictured.
