What are these cichlids? Lighter coloured one sold as golden convict and second darker ones (I have the pair) sold as Nicaraguans.

Thankyou very much! Been told the exact same on another post, Google image reverse suggested cyrptoheros nanoluteus for the first one, wasn’t sure on the other two. I was told when I bought them today the first one was a golden convict and the pair was Nicaraguans so! Thanks again x

Just to compare, here are a couple shots of the Nicaraguan cichlid, Hypsophrys nicaraguense.

Far Left above 1 male and 2 females,.... middle shot a male,........ right pic, a female nicaraguense
Males have an array of prominent spots on the dorsal and anal fins, females don't.

By the way calling Amatitlania nanoluteus as simply a "yellow convict" is an oversimplification,
although cons are also from the genus Amatitlania , this doesn't make them the same cichlids, they are different species, separated by color, geopraphy and temperment. And I consider lumping them together as one is simply larziness and a lack of understanding cichlid species complexity and species diversity.

Hi guys, thanks for all of your help, wondering if you could be of anymore! What looks to be the nanoluteus has paired with the female sajica and they are protecting a little hide, almost certain they are breeding. The male sajica is going over at any opportunity and fighting with the female. I still have my spare tank running as I have not long upgraded. Would anyone be able to recommend me to move either the pair or the single male into the spare tank please? I am able to swap the male into my partners tank also so he won’t be alone, but unsure if it would be best to give the pair space in a separate tank or leave them to it. Thanks in advance!

They both belong to the genus Amatitlania and can hybridize(which in my opinion is a negative) so I’d remove either the nanoluteus or sajica to prevent that.
