From my other threads, some of you may know that I have recently aquired 2 pacu and an oscar. I got them home last night, and they seem to be alright now. I was thinking I should feed them some vegetables or something. The prior owner also gave me a big bag of pond pellets that they were feeding them. I tossed a few in last night and they are gone now, so I guess they like those enough to eat them. Just wondering what else I should supplement their diet with. Also, the Pacu are free for the taking if you have a large enough tank!

Mine liked tubifex worms. When we made salad for dinner I'd take bits and drop it in the tank. I never had a problem with the ones I had. (a red and a black) They ate just about anything that would fit in their mouths including other fish.

everything that was suggested so far is right. pacu are happy to eat anything and everything you put in their tank usually, unless you have a real picky eater.

some favs would be as mentioned grapes, carrots, algae or spirulina wafers....and give them some sort of animal based food like meat wafers, shrimp, or fish fillets since in the wild they are known to eat snails and smaller crustaceans

if you can find them, plain unsalted tree nuts are also a good treat too, since its another natural food they would eat in the wild
