I had a Fire Eel in with my Oscars but I stuffed up and he dies due to my fatal mistake nothing to do with the Oscars. People on here have said Fire Eels dont go with Oscars are there any that will? A friend of mine has kept a Fire Eel with Oscars and had good results but I was wondering if there are any better suited and if any that are native to South America?

It depends on the temperment of the oscars, but fire eels and tire track eels (M. armatus) are probably the best suited to be kept with oscars.
If the Oscar/s are uncommonly docile I agree. personally I wouldn't do it again, Cichlids imo are to aggressive to keep with spiney eels in general.
I have an oscar with a fire eel... oscar is 10ish inches and the fire eel is 12ish

Yeah, I've never had aggression issues with oscars either. The last time I had oscars, they were kept with a three spot gourami that was a fraction of their sizes, and I never saw any aggression between them whatsoever.dbcb314;4557185; said:
