What is my catfish

Hi guys, I was recently sold 2 catfish at my local pet shop and told they should be fine in my 4 foot tank, however iv researched them and think they're red Tails which will grow massive (even though there Tails aren't really red) can anyone help

Help? What help do you want? They've lied to you and sold you a fish that gets so big it shouldn't really even be in the hobby, let alone in a tank like you have. And they sold you two!

You should take them back, ask for a refund and never go back to that fishstore again because they clearly can't be trusted.

(Yes, being MFK there are a few people around that have tanks that can handle them, But that's like 1 in 100,000 fish tanks)

Either the salesperson is a lying scoundrel or he doesn't know much about the fish that he sells.How much did they charge you for the redtails,if you don't mind?

I paid around £20 for 2, he didn't seem to know much to be fair, I guess I'll be returning them tomorrow

Sadly it's an all to familiar problem in this hobby. LFS personel who should be clued up, simply aren't, and then the poor trusting hobbyist is left in the lurch. There's not a great deal you can do with even one of them things, let alone two. Take them straight back and get a refund.
