Hi, Im planning on purchasing a 210 gallon tank. The MFK community convinced me going with a sump is the smart choice. However, I have no idea what the best brand is, what size sump, what size pump to use, what size holes should I have drilled in the tank. The LFS sees me as fresh meat comming in off the street and wants to unload whatever they have in stock. If it helps any I plan on having a planted tank with natives. Thanks for your opinions.

AGA/ Aqueon makes a decent 210 RR tank. The overflows work very well with that tank.

The sump is something you want to research. Many design and fab their own DIY sumps and just as many go with premade wet/ dries.

I have a AGA 210 with the megaflow overflows and durso kits. I made my own sump and used a 40G breeder with a Hy-Drive 3200 for the pump. I originally tried a mag18, not enough flow for my stock of mixed Hap/mbuna.

I would go the DIY route. It may seem intimidating right now, but it really is the best option, not to mention you could build it for peanuts compared to what a fish store will try to sell you one for. Lots of great plans in the DIY section...
