What is the MN regulation for keeping sunfish, and a bluegill?

in Ohio its not illegal to keep them its illegal to sell or distribute them....i see them all the time at meijer they dont know what they are...i bought one he lived for 1 month and my cichlids killed and ate him

if you are going to take them from a lake or river you need a kid under 16 years old that goes for all native fish to mn. you can have them. depending on were you live you could go to forest lake fish. they have northerns, tiger muskie, small mouth, larger mouth and yellow perch instock as of yesterday. they often have walleye also. i think i saw sunfish once or twice. i live in st. paul and it's worth the trip for me they have a wide verioty of fish there and have alot of good reliyable info. look in the fishing regs or call mn dnr they will answer any question you have.

Transport of fish for display in a home aquarium is legal under the following
conditions:
– Game fish purchased from an authorized licensee transported with the
necessary documents (such as a sales receipt).
– Anglers 16 or under may transport legally caught largemouth bass,
smallmouth bass, yellow perch, rock bass, black crappie, white crappie,
bluegill, pumpkinseed, green sunfish, orangespotted sunfish, and
black, yellow, and brown bullhead. No more than four of each species
may be transported at any one time, and any individual fish can be no
longer than 10 inches. At no time may water from infested waters be
transported. (See DNR Web site)

I live right down the road from this shop, almost literally. They don't know anything about the game fish they sell. The owner told me once that all sunfish are bluegills to him, and they all taste the same. Plus, they charge way too much for everything they sell. Just a lame place in general.

i have to disagree, I love Forest Lake Pets. While they are pricey, they have a huge variety of fish there and in good condition most of the time.
