I noticed a white scrape-like thing right above my angelfish mouth one day. It was small, so I thought maybe she scraped herself on something and didn't really think anything of it, but the next day it became this white mucus and became more extensive, and her eyes became cloudy. I also noticed my black angel breathing rapidly and constantly opening and closing her mouth as if gasping for air. So I imminently started testing the water, but all of my parameters were where they should be, so then I thought it must be an oxygen problem so I lowered the water level of the tank so the filter could provide more oxygen also putting in a portable air pump and left the tank like that all night. But when I came back the following day, the black angel was still breathing rapidly. The angel with the mucus looked the same, if not worse so I quickly put them both in a quarantine tank and dosed the water with Melafix thought two days later, she looked worse, and something had spread to her left fin clamping it shut while the right seems perfectly fine.

I thought maybe this was skin flukes, but I'm not sure. If someone knows what this is and if Melafix treats it, please tell me!

What’s ur temp and ph? I’d remove the melafix. Looks stressed but don’t see any obvious flukes on it. Is it wild caught?

My temperature is at 78 and ph at 7.0. And no she's not wild-caught. Why should I remove the Melafix?

Just wouldn’t use it but that’s just IMO. Would add some plants/decor and sand and see if it settles in.

That tank isn't the tank I house her in it's a quarantine tank...Also, I've had a cat licking out of the tank despite my best efforts to stop him, who currently has worms, which made me think it was flukes because flatworms are flukes, and a tapeworm is whats common in cats which is a type of flatworm.

Also, there's nothing that could have made her stressed in the first place. My parameters are where they should be. The oxygen flow is fine. The tank is not overcrowded. And she is the dominant fish in the tank.
