What kind of fish can be kept with crayfish? Can oscars or any other cichlids?
Also I live in Illinois, can any fish from around here live with them? I will be getting a 120 gallon soon so something that wouldn't outgrow that would be a good idea :P

Really big and aggressive fish will eat them. I have seen oscars at about 10" eat very large crayfish. Really small or slow fish risk being eaten by them. Medium cichlids should be okay though. Fast stuff will work too. Are you wanting just cichlids? If not then fast stuff like silver dollars and gisnt danios could work really well.

Yes. I use PVC connectors. They will also make homes under rock piles, especially with slate.

its not will your invert get along with so much as it is, what others will get along with the invert. I have kept many different fish from peaceful tetras, to aggressive africans with mine, just make sure they have a few hiding places that they can chill in while molting, and I wouldn't recommend anything too large that even when not molting would fit easily in the mouth. But you can always try something new and let everyone here know about the results, and of course you will have to post PICS!

I just have one little guy I took from the "feeder" tank at the petsmart i work at, he had one fish in each little claw and his antennae were nipped at a little... I have a tank with a midas cichlid, jack dempsey, common pleco, and 2 tiger oscars that are all 3-4.5" long right now. but the crayfish is pretty small, only like 2-3". Would it be possible to do that?

Yeah, until the cichlids get big enough to eat him. Or they'll snack on him as soon as he molts. A lot of hiding spaces may prevent it for awhile but it will happen eventually.
