G. javari has really bold, irregular stripes, sometimes broken up into a few larger spots. The stripes are much narrower in G. carapo (and lots of its lookalikes) have narrower, more closely spaced stripes that kind of blur together, so that it doesn't have the high-contrast colors of G. javari. G. tigre has bold, high-contrast stripes, but they are much more regular and closely spaced than you would see in G. javari.
