I need to know where do Muskellunge stay in what part of a lake...in the rocky slope or the sand slope, deep vegations...and Lake Merced is located in California,San Francisco,Daly City...Please Help Me Out

the things i need to know is if i can find the Muskellunge in North Lake Merced or South Lake Merced...and what part of the lake can they be found in...are they found close by vegatation...or out in the deep part of the lake...or rocky sides of the lakes...under the docks...likes those places..i need to know. Thanks for those who will try to help me...=)

Hey Catfish lover. I'm not trying to flame or anything but I've never heard of or seen most of the fish you mentioned. I was born and currently live in
SanFrancisco and the only fish I know that are in Lake Merced are, stocked rainbow trout, largemouth bass, and channel. Only rainbow trout are consistenly caught there because they are stocked but I don't believe that they are even stocked anymore because the city says it doesn't have enough money to keep the lake going. Even the baitshop and restaurant there are closed.:( Did someone tell you that it had that many different fish in the lake? Also, I believe that starry flounders are saltwater fish because I've caught them saltwater fishing. I wish they would have that many different types of fish in the lake (especially muskelunge) but the city has let it rundown and hardly any fish are caught there now. The Doctor.

just so everyone knows the fish he's looking for (Muskellunge) are Muske's just a different way to say the name.

muskellunge is there proper name but people say muskie cause its shorter but same fish

look for them by deep drop offs by islands that are buy deep water look for bait fish and prey fish like minnows and sunfish and perch and try to fish the deep water by them

also look for water around 8-10 feet thats by weeds or some kind of good cover

keep in mind muskie like weeds they like deeper weed beds to hide in and wait for fish to pass by they do like certain types of weeds but i can't remember which sorry just can't remember the name

ALSO muskie are very cautious fish if your useing a boat which is alot of times needed they are scared of them they are much smarter then pike and there for are a greater challenge so drift around a little before you expect to catch one and don't drop you anchor it will scare them and cast alot with big lures

also there not like pike so its hard to troll for them pike will follow boats to look for fish to get stured up and come flying past them which make eazy pray muskie will not do this

one last also i don't know if there stocked in that lake if they are hope you have good luck keep in mind most states have limts to fish you can keep most places the fish has to be 3 feet long to keep so please for there sake catch and release please

and good luck be patient there known as the fish of a million casts
