I am setting up a 4 foot 60 gallon and want to know what size Fluval Tronic I will need? I ask because each website featuring this heater has different size ratings for each size heater.
Thanks Craig

I did a quick search and found this on the official website

The Fluval Tronic Submersible Electronic Heater offers a technologically advanced operation system that delivers accurate, responsive, safe and reliable heating for fresh and saltwater aquariums. The patented thermal sensor continuously monitors the aquarium's water temperature to maintain precise temperature control. The unit heats continuously until the selected temperature has been achieved, providing quick and accurate temperature control. There are no mechanical components to wear. The numeric temperature dial makes it easy to select desired temperature. The safety shut-off feature allows the heater to switch off if it is accidentally removed from the water, or in situations when low water levels occur. Ideal for aquariums up to 65 US gallons

thing about heaters, I try to go a step or two higher in wattage if you can, that way the heater doesn't have to work as long to heat to the set temperature...Easier on the heater and less power used as well....

May I ask you why you are considering the "tronic" heater and not something like an Ebo Jager or a visi-therm Stealth?

Depends on a lot of factors.
What is your room temperature in the coldest time of the year?
Do you have a lid on your tank?
Do you have an air pump on your tank?
Do you have a sump? Is it covered?

Sorry for not replying.

I am considering the Tronic for a number of reasons:
*Price - Tronic 300W = $38.60. Jager 300W = $63.35.
*Size - The Tronic 300W is 42.5cm and the Jager 300W is 50cm and the tank I'm getting is 51cm high.

EDIT:
Any of you guys had any experience with the 300W Aqua One heaters??
As I live in Australia I'm unable to get a Visi Therm locally.

Go for 2 150W heaters instead. Doesn't matter what brand. It would be best to have indicator lights so that you know if one is stuck on or off, but if it happens the other one will compensate.

I would prefer to have only one heater. I want to have as few pieces of equipment in the tank as possible.

Consider you'll go through a number of thinner glassed heaters which actually will wind up costing more, not less. Cost is one thing, Value is where the desicion should be made...and heating isn't a place to try and save money. Failure in this component can cause death to the fish you are heating the water for.

50cm vs 42.5cm in a 51cm tall tank...still no issue...they are better mounted horizontal in the path of water current...still looks like 2-0 Ebo Jager...

you mean TRY to compensate...not at all enough to change the temp of the water or maintain it....

Yes this makes for a tidy-er aquarium, so mounting the heater horizontally and out of sight, goes with the look you're after...

I think the Tronic is a really good heater, I have had the best luck with them. My 150W has been working consistently for about 8 years. Its keeping a 40g at 80 degrees with a room temp of around 64 degrees. I think that a 250W would be fine for you.

Doesn't matter in the slightest. The point is, when a heater gets stuck on, it won't be capable of overheating the tank (at least not by very much.) If a heater gets stuck off, the other will keep the tank at at LEAST a few degrees above room temp.
