Around 6" is fine, too; I figured that it would be easier to find smaller ones instead of ones that are a bit bigger.
Try pming Snookn21-John if he could find you one, he sold me a 14" Bowfin, which is now 17"-18". :)

You live in PA they are all along the eastern seaboard, I use to catch them all the time in the spring while bullhead fishing. Just go out to a weedy location in a river/lake and get in the water with a buddy and siene net. Walk along the weeds and in them and Im sure youll turn up with one from this years clutches. Also you find tons of other neat creatures too.

Suprise Suprise :D Half a bluegill on a large hook will net you a bowfin anywhere from 1-5ft. ^_^ Or a tasty catfish/snapper. :headbang2
They are great though, and undervalued.

Beyond that, you'll need to get out to shallow water and seine fry at the right time of year to pick out the candidates you're after. Window screen on a dowel rod might work short term. ^_^

try tropical fish distributors in the spring time.
last season they had them around 6 inches for sale on aquabid.
snookn21 had them too.
good luck :)
