I noticed my Black moor breathing heavy and one eye clouding up on Thurs Mar 5th. I put her in a hospital tank for observation and by Friday night, she had a puff of white stuff growing off her eye and she was still at the bottom breathing very heavy. I looked around on this site and other places on the web for a possible cause. From the looks of it, it could be bacterial, fungal or both. So I went to a local fishstore that was still open and got a packet of Maracyn. It says to use for five days, but I see no change. Anybody got a recommendation for this problem?
(the active ingredient is 200mg erythromycin)

keep the water REALLY clean it looks real nasty and painful...

Because of the near proximity of the eye and the brain be ready for the worst. My guess is that it ran into something and got a cut which then became infected. Best of luck!

Water doesnt look too clean. Its very important to keep water very clean. Maracyn also says to dose for 5 more days if first 5 days arent enough. I think you should do the 5 more days.

Thats the worse eye infection Ive seen in a long time. You can try the maracyn like I say, and maybe think of trying something else afterwards if it doesnt clear up. Something this bad will take weeks to heal. If weeks pass and nothing you may have to think of euthanasia.

The water in the hospital tank is clean. It seems the flash from the camera reflects strongly off the white floating debris from the fish's eye. Also there is a slight algae layer on the glass, which seems to make it look cloudy.

The growth does not seem to be receding, but instead continues to grow. I'm going to try the Jungle fungus eliminator since it advertises it fights fungus & bacteria.

Thanks for the input, I'm hoping things will turn around for the better soon.

Yeah just keep water clean, also may want to add some air stones or something. The fish looks in bad condition. Not only the eye looks bad but the resting and open mouth. Let us kno how it turns out.

it look like its already dead ....

Put the air stone right next to him, add a bit a salt. raise temperature to like 85ish

How is it going to help? The bubbles themselves do not create oxygen but the surface movements they make.
