Hello,

Does anybody know of a good place I can get white pool filter sand from? I will be using it as the substrate in my new 220 gallon tank with my Fire Eels.

Most pool supply business companies carry pool filter sand.
In Milwaukee I went to a place called Granite Abrasives and would usually get 50lbs for around $5, they supply water filtration plants, landscaping and sandblasting companies, among others, and also very well known among bonsai tree enthusiasts, and provide much of the gravel and sand to local fish stores.
They carry many different colors, sizes and shapes, and I would expect there to be something very similar in your area that caters to the same people.

It's insane what the prices of sand or gravel go for at a lfs or a chain store.

I got mine from the great escape here's a pic 10$ for 50lbs. Menards is cheaper will go there next and they have white and dark brownish color which I like as well

Homedepot has pool filter sand for $5 per 50lb bags, think it is by Quikrete. It still needed to be rinsed a few times, as with any sand I have ever used, but it is good quality. Not super thin grain, looks thicker than play sand to me, which goes against everything I always read about playsand being larger than pool filter sand.

A lot of discount stores by me sells pool supplies, including pfs. Typically about $8/50lb

I will have to check out my local hardware and pool supply stores and see what they have. I just want to get white instead of regular tan or brown sand and it have to be soft for my fire eels.
