I have a strange white slime growing with the other mung in my canister filters tubing. I doesnt seem to be harming the fish but I think its affecting the water clarity. When I squeeze the tube pieces of it flake off into the tank. The particles look stringy/feathery? Anyone know what this stuff is? Ive cleaned out the tubes a few times but it always seems to come back. Its not visibly growing anywhere in the tank but I think its contributing to some cloudiness.
This is an unheated 60 gal that Im growing goldfish and koi in to eventually populate a pond. I dont want them taking this stuff with them. It doesnt seem to have done anything other than annoy me. Harmfull or not Id like to get rid of it. When I medicated for Ich a few months back the treatments had no effect on this stuff. Fish are much better though!
I appreciate any input you more experienced fish keepers may have.

I have The same Thing Growing on my outlet and inlet tubes. I washed it off and it comes back.

No issues on any level. PH,AMMO, Etc.

I'll Try to post a Pic.

If you guys can try to post a pic also.

I just want to know what this stuff is.

I think it's just hard water deposits, I get the same thing. Starts off slimier and then gets flaky. There's not a lot you can do about it except clean it off. It doesn't hurt the fish.

ok Makes total sense now. My ph level doesn't change much due to the hardness so this is great for me as i have it set to my idle level.

Thanks for the info.
