Why do YOU like them? I am just curious if most Flowerhorn owners love them mainly for their sweet looks, personality, or something else?

Also, side note how aggressive have you found them to be? I have heard mixed things. Can they be kept in a smaller cichlid community as juvies, or are they already pretty aggressive at a small age?

I am asking these questions because I have the opportunity to buy a very cool looking little Flowerhorn, but it is more expensive than any fish I normally buy, and I am torn as to whether I want it or not.

Personally don't have one but I love them because of the black markings they have that look like symbols and writing. Not sure about temperament

Size. Color. Body shape. Hardiness. And character/personality. Very interactive fish.

Get one and you will have the answers for yourself. As juvenile Flowerhorn can keep with other smaller cichlid, but won't be long, I believe when they reach about 3 inches they will show the aggression and some territorial thing. Notice, Flowerhorn is best to keep alone in a single tank as they are aggressive like any other SA cichlids ( any larger than a 55 gallon tank is recommended). Overall, Flowerhorn are very fun to keep some hobbyist even consider them as a water dog. It's good to spend a little bit more money to get a high quality fish rather than spend a couple bucks to get a low quality fish and it doesn't turn out the way you want it to be.

How would you say they compare to Oscars in personality? I always hear how amazing Oscars are with personality, and while they are cool when they get big, they are nothing like the beauty of a Flowerhorn. I have kind of wanted a single show fish for awhile...

What do you think of these little guys?

Oscars are okay but in my opinion don't come close to a personality of a flowerhorn between those four beauties I think that first ones my favorite his pattern and fins just kill it

Comparing Oscar and flowerhorn, there are the big differences between the two species. Oscar might look cool from 4-5 inches, but once they are mature they are just like a pig only want to eat and swim slowly around the tank. On the other hand, flowerhorn is a very energetic fish doesn't matter what age they are, they love to follow your finger, which is very rare in Oscar. The only thing that the Oscar will win is lifespan Oscar seem to have a pretty long life spent, I have heard Oscar that live up to 20 years of age, while flowerhorn are not now a day maybe 6 years old is max. The oldest I have seen is 7 years old, and I heard some people claimed they have a flowerhorn that lived up to 10 years, which I have hard time to believe. Now let talk about the flowerhorns that you posted, the first and the last one are nice. They are both have good fins but the last seems to have the better fins and the last one hump is slightly bigger than the first one. However, it doesn't have a solid flower lines as the first one. If I were you I will go for the last one as it looks quite interest to me.

The first two and the last one look like they could be brother with a silk as one of the parents

The personality is the best part by far. I own a 11in oscar as well and he has a great personality love him as well. IMO flowerhorn should be kept alone, not in a community. Best way to enjoy their beauty and personality - why would you need anything else in the tank?
