I saw wild caught Oscars for sale today. Said from Columbia. Other than color is there any difference between WC n CB? Size, temperament etc...?

The wild ones aren’t too colorful compared to the cb oscars. Wild oscars I assume are a little finicky with food, easily converted. More sensitive to water hardness compared to their captive bred bros. Size and temperament are the same. These are just IMO. Gourami Swami Gourami Swami Stanzzzz7 Stanzzzz7

Depends on the species. Crassipinnis, orbicularis and the one we are used to ocellatus. My spelling may be off.
Wild Oscars will probably be a little more aggressive than aquarium strains.
Generally simular in size although orbicularis are a bit smaller than the others.
I would try to create water conditions that they are used to in the wild, soft and acidic or they will be prone to hith and bacterial infections.

Just bought two wild Oscars today not as brightly coloured as the captive bred ones I agree but I think their is something special about having wild fish rather than captive bred species

So I've got the usual sulking Oscars. Any tips and advice to bring them round. they are not feeding just the pair of themare sat at the bottom of the tank. Is it a case of just letting them sulk it out or is their anything I can do to make them feel more comfortable

I found wild oscars to be just as hardy as domestics. Also, they aren’t usually more aggressive. That depends more on the individual fish more so than being wild or captive.

Depending on the strain, some wild oscars are drop dead gorgeous and have interesting patterns and cool ocelli on their flanks and shoulders.

Columbian is more than likely the caqueta strAin. These will be mostly blackish, grayish, beige with some red/orange highlights. Usually a bit more elongate than captive bred. Bullet proof.

Thanks for all the replies. It does sound cool to have a WC naturally occurring Oscar. I’m gonna think about getting one. There looks to be quite a few on the site. Here’s the ones for sale
