The Devil Went Down to (insert the name of your town if you'd like to order some)!

After about 1 1/2 years, wild Nicaraguan cichlids are back again.
Better wear sunglasses because these devils are nuclear.

Below are photos I took of the new fish as I was opening boxes and putting them into tanks last week.
There is an incredible variety of color on these wild beauties.

If you are interested to order, please contact me by directly emailing at bigguapote1@verizon.net
The stock is immediately available for shipping.

Sorry I cannot guarantee to pick the specific fish you see in any given photo. There are many fish on hand spread over many tanks.
I will do my best to select a certain color - like red, red & black, black barred, red/purple head barred, etc.

Prices are as follows:
red, red & black labiatus 5-5.5" @ 85 ea, 6-7" @ 110 ea.
barred labiatus (including black, red/purple head, etc.) 5-5.5" @ 65 ea, 6-7" @ 85 ea.

very limited quantities of the below cichlids are available:
xanthic citrinellus (gold/pink/orange colored) 4.5-6" @ 85 ea.
barred citrinellus (black barred/red head barred) 4.5-6" @ 75 ea.

longimanus 5-6" @ 75 ea.

nicaraguensis 5-6" @ 75 ea.

There are some Astyanax tetras and mollies as well.

All stock fish, including the wild Nicaraguan fish, can be found in pasted copy of my stock list following the photos.
As always, please refer to the stock list posted at my web page for most current availability.

Thanks for viewing.

Hey Jeff is there a lot of aggression in the wild devils , like there is in the CB's we are used too?
The barred labiatus are generally more aggressive than colored ones.
The largest lips are generally seen on barred individuals as well.

Some theories behind this:
Xanthic (colored individuals) are the minority and tend to be found with greater regularity in deeper waters than the more commonly occurring barred form.

Visibility of colored fish is greater (good for advertising to potential mates, bad for advertising to potential predators!), so deeper, darker waters where lesser concentration of fish occur makes sense for them to be found with any greater regularity in this habitat as opposed to shallow waters where there is more competition for food, spawning partners, territory, predation.

And contrarily, barred individuals are less visible in their shallow habitat to predators. But they occur in greater concentrations here, so it pays to be more fierce towards conspecific (same species) rivals for choice feeding areas, spawning sites, spawning partners, potential fry predation.

The generally larger lips of barred labiatus are also a product of their environment.
The big, callous lips may be utilized with more frequency in shallow water where more crevices among rocks are abound to poke their suctioning snouts into.

Overall, the wild devils are prime examples of how they got that name - by repeatedly earning it!
