I have a in ground pond with a intex swimming pool liner. I got it free from a friend.
It has a layer of sand at the bottom and rocks covering the edges so there is no direct sunlight hitting the liner (as I have heard this is what can make the liner brittle)
Do you think the liner will last as long as a convention 20 mill pond liner????

the poll is supposed to say:

yes
no
It will last longer....not "I" will last longer.....I hope I last longer than my pond liner:ROFL::nilly::ROFL:

for those who voted no...please let me know why you don't think it will last as long

I tried out an intex above ground metal frame pool. It started leaking with 6 inches of water. I immediately returned it.

You must of had a defective pool, as intex couldn't stay in business if they all leaked. My pond has been set up for a couple months now and there hasn't been any problems so far :headbang2 Hopefully I can say there hasn't been any problems a few years from now:confused:

I voted it will last as long.

I found this info here: http://www.intexcorp.com/faqs/faq-framepools.html

The info is for the metal framed pools which are thicker I think than the inflatable ring topped ones.

11.) What material is the pool liner made of?
It is made with 3 separate layers of material for extra strength and durability - two outer layers of heavy gauge PVC laminated to an inner layer of polyester mesh for extra reinforcement. 15' pools have a 16 gauge floor with 25 gauge walls, 18' and 24' pools have a 24 gauge floor with 30 gauge walls. 1 gauge is equivalent to 1/1000 of an inch.

So if its a 15' pool you have a 16 mil floor and 25 mil walls.

Thanks for the info :headbang2:headbang2:headbang2very informative!

My liner is from a 15' metal frame pool.
The reason my friend gave it to me was because there was a place where the factory had screwed up and punched the return for the filter in the wrong place. So I cut the liner wher the hole was and still had quite a bit of liner to use for the pond.
